A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of documenting Lisa and Mark's wedding at the always-lovely Oxwich Bay Hotel, Gower.
The morning began at Slade Barn - a gorgeous converted barn only ten minutes up the road from Oxwich. I'd never been there before and would definitely recommend it to potential brides/grooms who wish to get ready close to the hotel.
I immediately noticed Lisa's choice of colour scheme - a delightful mixture of purple and yellow, which was brightening up the rather dreary weather. The flowers were gorgeous and there was plenty of attention to detail, with a special mention having to go to Lisa's amazing bride and groom shoes from Irregular Choice.
Before heading to the ceremony, I was able to pop and see Mark who was getting ready in one of the rooms at Oxwich.
Both the ceremony and reception were held at Oxwich, with the ceremony taking place in the lovely Chestnut Room - a room that is so bright and perfect for photography, yet also warm with its thick beams and wood burner. The ceremony was full of laughs and it was a delight to photograph.
Despite the weather, we managed to have a confetti shot just outside the hotel and, if anything, the added colour from the umbrellas made the image stand out even more!
It was then up to the marquee where I had a mooch around and captured some of the unique details that personalise the day, including a sandcastle cake and tables named after various beaches around Gower.
What's great about a late spring/early summer wedding is that even if the weather isn't playing ball, it is so light late into the evening that there are always other opportunities to go out for photographs. With Oxwich being (literally) on the beach, it's ideal to play it by ear and wait for a break in the weather for those all important bridal party images. Thankfully, that break in the weather came just after the wedding breakfast and speeches and so we headed down - complete with colour-coordinated wellies for the bridesmaids
The rest of the evening saw guests entertained by a magician and taking to the dance floor. It was a beautiful day all round and it was my absolute pleasure to take photographs of one of the nicest couples I have met this year.
Congratulations again, both!
